And here it is...My 'Proposed' Award Title!

After first voicing my initial ideas for this task under the post 'Proposing my award title!' I was fortunate enough to benefit from the views and knowledges of others along side me on the BAPP course. I was struggling to establish a label for this 'bit in the middle', but as it was pointed out to me 'what is the necessity of this?' I have come to realise that the learning, researching and studying, of which I was initially trying to identify merely as a 'transition', is an ongoing movement. To put our own 'progression' into a title is near impossible, but to put the 'now' and 'future' is a much more applicable process. So here is my proposed award title:

BA (Hons) Professional Practice in Theatre, Dance and Media

  1. Hi Simone,

This is a great lesson for me too! I try to put a label on what I am going to do in the future but all the time I am unsure it is not going to help to pigeon hole my research as I try to decide. However this can make things seem a little overwhelming as there is so much to take in. Do you feel like this too? How do you manage that?

Your propsed title keeps it simple and encompasses all your interests. Do you think it is our questions that need to be more clarified? Or can we find scope to encompass a variety of interests in one question too?

    Thanks

    Hollie

  2. Hi Simone

I know exactly what you mean!

I thinks this task is very easy to over think and over analyse. (Possibly because we all have our questioning heads on!?)

Hollie, I was also concerned with putting a 'label' on myself. But, I think we have to remember that the inquiry is just a particular point of interest of our practice for the purposes of this degree. We probably all have several avenues we could pursue. I think the award title does need to reflect our inquiry but should cover a much bigger umbrella of knowledge. It should cover our practices in their entirety.

I hope this helps. I understand how you feel, it seems like there are a lot of big decisions to be made!

    Thanks
    Kelly

  3. Hi Simone,
You have nailed it I feel. This is broad but cleverly so as it is in keeping with your enquiry into all these areas which is ongoing. You arent ruling anything out.

its right that it was time consuming for you , I think all these tasks are decievingly time consuming and once they are done properly you feel like you can move on to the next.
All the best and thank you for your comments on my confusion, much much appreciated.

  4. Hi Hollie, I agree, it isn't necessarily the title that is the challenge but finding a more defined focus within our inquiries and questions. It definitely is difficult as within this industry, and as we are expanding our careers ourselves to not become 'pigeon holed', how have you managed to overcome this?

Hi Kelly, I really appreciate your analogy of this task, how are you finding it all? Do you feel restricted or simply gaining a greater understanding to head in the right direction?

Hi Pauline, Thankyou! Yes it definitely took time, but was really grateful for all the feedback from you all to achieve my title. How are you in finding all your inquires leading to your title now?
